The presentations that we watched today were absolutely amazing!
1. The touch-table group was unable to work with the API and therefore implemented their game in C#. One player used the arrow keys and the others used xbox controllers to move the "hands" which grabbed the frogs. They had some cover that the frogs could hide under that the hand could shake to scare them out, and an anthill representing food that frogs would be drawn to. We were very impressed with this game, including all of their background sound effects and music. From here, our job will be to work through the API issues to actually make the game work on our touch table.
2. The projector group had an amazing game. The initial screen looked like a blank piece of jungle, but if you moved in front of it, the frogs would jump everywhere. The issue we see with this game is it doesn't really have any educational aspects on its own, but the group believes that the game is supposed to attract attention and make visitors to the zoo want to learn more about frogs. This game is probably in a state that we just want to go into user-testing with, probably after doing what we can with the touch-table game.
From here we really want to test the games with children of the appropriate age range. Each group had members who were interested in keeping up with their game and perhaps developing it further. However, as we are already into our exam period, I don't think there will be any more posts until January.
