Testing

Properly the testing of these two game would involve child participants. Using an audience of such a young age would involve parental consent and other certain issues that we would have to investigate further. We also had some questions concerning the way we would go about introducing the game without generating any bias, or the best way to evaluate their reactions and level of interest. We posed these questions to a colleague who had previously done similar testing with young children.

1. How do you gauge whether a 5-10 year old is interested in a particular activity without asking them -- and would asking them introduce some sort of bias?

2. How do you gauge whether a 5-10 year old is learning/ has learned information that you were trying to get them to pick up?

3. What would you do to create a control group for a particular activity, or would you not bother with one?

4. Would giving instructions, or telling children what to expect, introduce bias to the results?

5. Would you allow other children to watch one do the activity before they were allowed a chance at it?
